Pacific Sprint King Banuve Tabakaucoro wants to improve on his speed heading into the qualifying rounds in Australia.
As COVID-19 continues to keep people in lockdown, Tabakaucoro will be using this period to sharpen up on his speed.
“ It’s tough but all i can do is train from home and with the Olympics happening next year it just gives me more time to prepare,” he said.

“The only area I need to improve on now is basically holding the top end part of my speed longer. So speed endurance and the just competition fitness. have training fitness already I just need a lot more competitions to compete in. Now with the Olympics being postponed it just gives the athletes a little more time to train and get ready for next year but then most of us can’t use any of the facilities that we need because of this virus so it makes it a little more tricky to train and stay safe at the same time.”
“I attend the qualifying meets as long as it’s recognised by the IAAF and Olympic Committee, once we hit the standard we’re through right away. So we can qualify anytime and the cut off date is the a week before Olympics
“I attended 3 comps in February already. Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney track classics.”
“I opened up my season running faster then what I did last year in the 100m so things were already looking good for this season. Apart from that all my other comps have been cancelled this year due to covid19 outbreak through Australia and the world.”
