FIFA president Gianni Infantino today visited the Fiji Football Association headquarters in Vatuwaqa, Suva, to open the newly established fitness centre and all-weather Futsal turf.
Fiji FA CEO Muhammed Yusuf said establishing the fitness centre was made possible through FIFA funding.
“Our newly refurbished all-weather futsal turf is in the Suva, Ba and Labasa academies,” he said.
The visit also included the signing of a significant Memorandum of Understanding between FIFA, the Ministry of Education, and the Fiji FA to introduce the programme Football of Schools.
Infantino said he is advocating in bringing football to the Southern Hemisphere with a message to make football global as it unites people around the world.
“We have women's football which is more than a symbol that brings billions of people around the world in front of the TV watching these great games which speaks for equality as it speaks of empowerment of women, "he said.
“We are fully dedicated to women's football and women's football league has been set up in Fiji as well so the future is bright definitely for men's and women's football,” he added.
