Jean Luc (pictured) of Church College Fiji has set his sights on the Fiji Finals for the 100m and 200m after winning both events at the Suva Zone One competition.

Luc said he was to scoop both the races.

“I had been putting a lot of time into my training, and every morning when I woke up, I always told myself that the hard work I put in would help me achieve something,” he said.

The Vanuatu native said this was his third year in Fiji.

He said his preparation had been progressive.

“It had been going well, and sometimes I felt like giving up, but I always remembered that I had a goal. I always told myself that I was going to achieve something,” he said.

Luc added that the zone competition was tough.

“One of the areas where I was weak was my start out of the blocks. I wasn’t really good at starting,” he said.

Luc said he needed to work on his starting blocks as it was very important for his performance.

He credited the support from his friends, his school, and especially his family back in Vanuatu.

On Thursday he clocked a time 11.00s in the 100m. He ran a time of 22.22s in the 200m final yesterday.
