Tackle Kadavu made its mark by reaching the semifinal of the Koroturaga Cup in the FMF Suva Rugby Union club competition.
Kadavu beat USP (University of the South Pacific) 12-10 in the quarterfinal clash, this morning.
Kadavu coach Josevata Bola said the win was special after 13 years of absence from the SRU competition.
Speaking to SUNsports, Bola said they had prepared well.
“The quarterfinals were postponed for the last three weeks due to bad weather, but we still went on with our preparation on the field and in the gym,” the former Suva and Northland halfback said.
The Kadavu management has been handing out an allowance of $20 to each player. This was possible by contribution from the village districts toward the team.
Bola, who also played for the national sevens side, said he wants to create a pathway for youths in Kadavu to follow if they want to make it big in rugby.
