Kakala House defended their title during the Adi Cakobau School (ACS) inter-house competition yesterday at the HFC Bank Stadium, Suva.

The blues dominated the tracks and field, scooping 17 gold, 8 silvers, and 13 bronze medals to secure back‑to‑back victories.

ACS athletics spokesperson Ravuama Latilevu praised the athletes for stepping up despite the absence of last year’s star performers.

“We don’t have our former gold medallists this year, so we relied heavily on the raw talents from our Year 9 and Year 10 athletes,” Latilevu said.

He said their relay teams had the core runners from last year and they delivered well.

Latilevu also acknowledged the commitment of house coaches and students in preparing for the event.

“The girls prepared really well. Even with only three weeks of training, many of them had already been doing their own off‑season work. All that effort contributed to today’s performance,” he said.

Latilevu said they now shift their focus to the zone competition and Coca-Cola Games.

“Our aim is to defend our Triple N title and improve our gold medal tally from last year,” he said.

“The plan is simply to improve overall performance.”

He also expressed gratitude to supporters, the ACS Old Girls Association and the PTA (Parents and Teachers Association) for securing another year of service of head coach and former national sprinter, Makelesi Bulikiobo.

A total of 700 students participated across two days of competition.

Meanwhile, Uci was second with 16 gold, 14 silvers and 15 bronze medals while Lagakali finished third; they took out 10 gold, 13 silver and 10 bronze medals.

Mokosoi settled for fourth place with 8 gold, 16 silver and 12 bronze medals.
