Kauyaca Joins Top NZ Promotions

Former Fiji cruiserweight champion Alivereti Kauyaca has signed up with renowned CTP Boxing Promotions of Auckland, New Zealand, to help build his boxing career.

In addition, the Bukuya, Magodro, Ba native has officially appointed Auckland based, Farmaan Ali, the former trainer, and manager of Savenaca Naliva.

When contacted yesterday Team Kauyaca’s manager Isikeli Navuni confirmed the move and also indicated that Auckland businessman Ali takes over from him.

“We want Kauyaca to do better and get a top world ranking” Navuni said.

“This is his only opportunity to train and fight overseas.”

CTP Boxing Promotions owner Craig Thomson has done over 100 boxing promotions in New Zealand. The promotions helped plan and promote many top boxers and now has taken Kauyaca under its wings.

Thomson has built the careers of many NZ boxers like Adrian Tahia and Gunnar Jackson. Jackson fought in Bob Arum’s Top Rank Promotions in Las Vegas in 2015.

“Craig is a good friend and I work closely with him here in New Zealand,” Ali told SUNsports.

“At my request, he agreed to promote Alivereti here in New Zealand and overseas.

“This was after the drama surrounding the hand wrap and how the Boxing Commission of Fiji handled the situation has caused great embarrassment and distress to Alivereti.”

Navuni told SUNsports they had used the cotton lint and not cement plaster as it was told on Facebook.

“We were told not to use that cotton lint but there was no cement plaster but the Commission did not listen to our side of the story.

“We’re not going to seek legal action as we were earlier advised despite having a strong case.
