The Lautoka Football team aims to win the 2019 Vodafone Fiji FACT when the tournament kicks-off this Friday at Churchill Park, Lautoka.

Team vice president, Arun Sami, said they were planning to win it for their current president, Abdul Kadar, who is soon joining the Fiji Football Association as one of its vice presidents.

Mr Sami said the team’s preparations were on track and the players were showing good commitment in training.

“Preparations for are going good at the moment and we are looking forward to this year’s tournament,” he said.

“The players are coming down for training every afternoon and we are preparing well for this tournament.”

He said the only challenge faced was the heavy downpour experienced in the city, which was affecting training.

“Last week we spent time on very little training because we used the grounds to train and even though we are experiencing this type of weather we make sure that we are looking after the boys because the tournament is for two weeks,” Mr Sami said.

“This year’s Vodafone Fiji FACT will be a challenging one because teams like Tavua and Nasinu they have come up with very good points.

Lautoka will attempt to unseat defending champions Rewa at this year’s tournament, as the western giants tries to make amends for its early OFC Champions League exit.

Mr Sami is urging Lautoka fans to come down and support the boys at this year’s 2019 Vodafone Fiji FACT which commences on Friday at Lautoka’s Churchill Park.

Lautoka is pooled with Suva, Tavua and Labasa in Pool A.
