Lebaivalu are the Vanuaso 7s champions after edging out Police Blues 28-26 at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori yesterday.

Lebaivalu consisted of players from Gau along with a few Tabadamu players as they were $10,000 richer at the end of the Cup final.

Blues were unfortunate not to convert the final try by Suliasi Vulivuli which would have forced the Cup final into extra time. Blues coach Sale Tubuna said that despite the narrow loss he was happy with how the players have progressed.

“We had a couple of new players in the team and they are gelling well with those that have been playing for some time,” the former Vodafone Fiji Residents rugby league head coach said.

Tubuna pointed out that they didn’t field Fiji Airways Fijian 7s squad member Rusiate Matai.

“We also gave Alipate Ratini a few games and he’s slowly getting there. We still need time to work on him.”

In other finals Exile Brothers pipped Katudrau 14-7 in the Bowl final while Zion Brothers beat Niubuto 17-14 in the Plate final.
