Lekutu Secondary School (LSS) athletes are determined to win their first medal tomorrow at the Fiji Finals (Coca-Cola Games) at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

Speaking to SUNsports, LSS coach Mohammed Javed said the athletes were ready to give their all.

“Most of our athletes are not new to the competition as they have been participating in previous Coca-Cola Games,” he said.

“We are aiming to win our first medal this year for the school.”

Javed said the squad consists of five athletes.

“They will be competing in the 400 metres, long jump, and one athlete will be running in the long-distance event,” he said.

He said there were challenges during preparation.

“We had a shortage of funds to cater for boat fares, food, and other requirements for our athletes.”

Javed said the school committee and parents stepped in to support the team financially.

He said the main goal remains winning a medal for the school.
