Coach now focus on Triple N Zone as they build-up their squad
Naucukidi House won the Lelean Memorial School (LMS inter-house competition at the ANZ Stadium, Suva, yesterday.
The House in Green collected 34 gold, 35 silvers and 21 bronze medals followed by Varani with 22 gold, 30 silvers and 14 bronze and Mateinaniu settled in third spot with 22 gold, 15 silvers and 18 bronze while Bulu finished fourth with 9 gold, 12 silvers and 22 bronze.
Speaking to SUNsports, LMS head coach, Iva Powell was pleased that over 700 students participated in the competition.
“Actually, the whole school was encouraged to participate in the inter-house meet and around 700 competed,” she said.
“And our aim of this inter-house meet was to get the whole team together and be part of this competition.
“Previously, we noticed only the best athletes compete in their various house while the other students who have the potential sat back and watched them participate.
“So, this year we were pleased to have encouraged the entire school to participate.
“However, after this inter-house meet we witnessed a lot of new talents among the students. We hope these students prepare well for the high level of competition in the upcoming Triple N Zone meet.
“Our goal for the Coca-Cola Games, this year is to improve our standing from last year as we managed to get three silvers and two bronze medals which we hope to improve on.
“We will only take in those medal prospects for the zone meet and definitely Lelean will be a school to watch out for the upcoming Coke Games.
“Also for the young athletes we will develop them further as they progress into their individual grades.
“The only challenge that we’re facing right now is trying to give our students’ time to prepare for athletics and the Dean’s Trophy as well.
“I would like to thank the ex-scholars, parents and the entire school management for their endless support in making today’s event an enjoyable one.
