Life After Sports: Navugona Uses Overseas Stint to Further Study

At the prime of his sporting career Mesake Navugona thought about his future and what life would be like for him and his family when he retires.

“I was on a one-year contract with Parkes in a Group 11 rugby league competition in Australia,” Navugona recalled.

“It was there I decided to take up a course in general plumbing works with TAFE and never looked back. It was the type of job I want to do when I return to Fiji.”

Moving forward, today he is a Technical Officer at the Water Authority of Fiji’s (WAF) Lautoka Waste Water Treatment plant.

Navugona accredited the Almighty Jehovah along with his wife and five children (two sons and three daughters) for how things have turned out for him.

“We now enjoy time with our five grandchildren as well,” he added.

Navugona hails from Vatukarasa, Taivugalei in Tailevu with maternal links to Daliconi in Vanuabalavu.
