Lilo, A Hard Hitting Defender Passes On

Former Fiji and Lautoka football captain Moala Mikolasa Lilo fondly known in the local football fraternity as Niko Lilo has passed away in Munich, Germany, on Tuesday morning.

Former Fiji and Lautoka football captain Moala Mikolasa Lilo fondly known in the local football fraternity as Niko Lilo has passed away in Munich, Germany, on Tuesday morning.

His elder brother Rollan Lilo said that Niko, dubbed as the hard hitting defender during his heyday did battle a long illness. He was in his 60s.

Born and bred in Waiyavi, Lautoka well-known to have produced some of the top footballers of their time including Arthur Peters, Ernest Doughty, the Tuilawa brothers Michael, Raphael, and Gabriel.
