'Lion Tamer' Racika Honoured

Legendary Fijian rugby hooker Atonio Racika was last night inducted into the Fiji Rugby Union Hall of Fame.
Racika received his award during the annual Fiji Rugby Union Awards at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.
He played for the national rugby team and scored a try when they beat the British Lions 25-21 at Buckhurst Park, Suva, in 1977.

Earlier in 1970, Racika played for the national team that beat the Barbarians 29-9 at Kingston Park, Gosforth, in England.
That feat was only equalled last November with the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians’ 33-31 win at Twickenham, London, after a 49-year lapse.
