Lomaiviti Rugby club coach Salimoni Ravouvou said the club was entering a rebuilding and development phase.
“We are in a rebuilding phase but all will come to fruition in two to three years,” the former Suva Rugby head coach said.
“We have a lot of young talents and we will be working very hard to maintain our position in the Escott Shield competition.
Ravouvou said one of the things they prioritised at the club was developing their players both on and off the field.
“First thing we want is to help them realise their calling as rugby players and getting them off the streets, away from criminal activities and other things that are not good for them.”
He said the response they had been getting from the youths had been good, which was a very positive indicator for them as well.
Ravouvou also highlighted their intention in getting things done right and re-establishing their dominance in the Suva club competition.
“But for the first two years, we just want to help our players grow, but in time they will become a force to be reckoned with in the Suva club competition.
“It feels good to be back at my old club and we are looking forward to a very tough season ahead of us,” he added.
Over the years, the club has produced top players like Samu Saumaisue, Saimoni Rokini, Kalisito Tunaulu, Filimoni Bolavucu, Waqabaca Kotobalavu, Paula Raqeukai, Naca Seru, Sisa Koyamaibole, Ben Soso, Seremaia Burotu, Benito Masilevu and the list goes on.
