Lomary Secondary School Under-16 schoolboys’ team goal is to improve in every game.
It is not so much about winning but developing young players.
These were comments shared by team manager Apisalome Rasoki. The side is coached by Tevita Ratucadra.
Their focus now is on rugby development after they withdrew from the Coke Games this year.
Rasoki said they are grateful to have a supportive network of teachers, parents and old scholars who help fund the team’s expenses.
They won against Nabua Secondary School, 20-15, in their first game on Saturday at the Suva Grammar School grounds.
“This is a young team, we have two Under-14 players on the side,” Rasoki said.
“Our goal for the season is to improve in every game,” he said.
“Looking for finances to get the team to participate is a challenge, we’re thankful to have the support of our parents, our principal Maretina Rekitilako-Rawalai and also the old scholars.
“We would also like to apologise to the ex-scholars that we chose to only play rugby this year, because they always look forward to athletics.”
Lomary is fielding two boys teams for Deans this season. The other is the U-19.
