Macuata women’s coach eyes promotion

Macuata coach Motu Lalagavesi remains optimistic of their chances to win the competition and be promoted to the Marama Championship.

The Macuata women’s rugby is not resting on their laurel as they are on a mission to win the Royal Tea Ranadi Cup.

The Northerners topped their pool and are now ready for the quarterfinals.

Macuata coach Motu Lalagavesi remains optimistic of their chances to win the competition and be promoted to the Marama Championship.

She said every effort would be made to ensure they achieve their goal.

“It’s confirmed that we’ve topped the pool and now await the announcement on who’ll we face in the quarter-finals.

“It will be a runner-up from the other conference,” she said.

Lalagavesi who returned to coaching this year said the standard of women’s game has improved.

She has seen this with her players as they have improved as the competition progresses.

“With each winning result, the players gain a lot of confidence to play harder and try to win more games.”

However, Lalagavesi has warned her players that they cannot get complacent and underestimate their opponents in the play-offs.

“We have to move a gear up as the match intensity will increase because of what is at stake and that is to be promoted to the next level,” she added.
