Malomalo 7s Official Invites Teams To Register

The 25th FMF Malomalo Sevens Rugby and Netball tournament is set for June 29-30 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka. 

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, tournament secretary Josateki Neimila said there is still time for teams to register as the registration closes on June 24. 

“We just need more teams to come and play in this tournament because Lawaqa Park is in the country’s rugby town so fans can enjoy the two-day event,” Neimila said.     

The tournament will feature 32 men’s teams, eight women’s teams, 24 Under-21 teams and 24 netball teams. 

“The purpose of the tournament is to fundraise for the renovation and extension of the Malomalo Village Hall,” Neimila said. 

“Teams like Uluinakau Ralagi, Kingdom Warriors and Devo Babas from Vanua Levu, Ratu Filise and a team from Navala Ba have registered for the men’s sevens competition,” he said. 

Registration fee for the Malomalo men’s rugby sevens is $600 per team, U20 is $250, women’s 7s is $200 and $80 for netball. 

“We are inviting all the teams in Fiji especially in Nadroga to come and participate,” he added. 

The winning prize for the men’s sevens team is $6000 and the runner up will get $2500. The women’s rugby 7s cup winner will get $1000, and the runner up will take $500. The U21 winner pockets $2000 while the runner-up gets $800. For netball, the winner receives $500, and the runner up gets $250.
