Money raised from the second Fiji Bitter Malomalo 7s tournament will be directed to the village water project.
About 64 men’s teams, 24 women’s netball teams, 28 volleyball teams and eight Indo-Fijians will take part in the tournament set for May 6-7 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
Speaking to SUNsports on Thursday, Paradise Beverages general manager sales and corporate affairs Joe Rodan (Snr) said the tournament is for a worthy cause.
“The purpose of this tournament is good because we are assisting the villagers of Malomalo to have tap water connected to their houses,” he said.
“They have been trying to get tap water into the village for a long time. The money from the Fiji Bitter Malomalo 7s will be used to facilitate the cost of getting water to the houses.
“It’s a project that we want to see happen because this will benefit the villagers.”
Malomalo 7s president Eroni Navasu said they are anticipating a good tournament.
“This is our second tournament. Last year we had the first one straight after that we had the lockdown.
“We also have a women’s competition and in the under-21 category Ravuka Sharks and Ba River have confirmed their availability.
“We also have netball, volleyball and Indo Fijian 7s rugby.
“It will be an action packed weekend.
“We thank Paradise Beverages for their endless support and kind gesture of assisting us in trying to get tap water to my village.”
