Marist Swimmers Shine In Championship

Marist Brothers High School took out the boy’s division of the National Schools Swimming Championships at the Suva Olympic Pool on Saturday. MBHS won 25 gold medals, 14 silver and 8 bronze to claim first spot from the 47 schools and 500 swimmers that took part in the two-day event.

Their success was due to the outstanding performance of their swimmers like Makiuti Seruvatu, Don Younger, Erik Tokona, Keith Mara and Josua Mara. Seruvatu won the 100m and 200m Freestyle races while Young won the 100m Freestyle and Breaststroke events.

The girls’ division was won by St Joseph’s Secondary School with 25 gold medals, 21 silver and 14 bronze.

Nadi-based Swami Vivekananda College finished second in the boy’s and girl’s medal tally. In the boy’s division SVC won 18 gold, 10 silver and 14 bronze medals. In the girl’s they scooped 14 gold, 6 silver and 10 bronze medals.
