After many months of speculation, Flying Fijian No.8 Viliame (Bill) Mata has remained loyal to Edinburgh Rugby.
Pursued by top rugby clubs in Europe, the burly Fijian re-signed his contract with the top Scottish club yesterday.
The 29-year-old joined Edinburgh after help the Fijian men’s team win the sevens gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
His Olympic coach Ben Ryan said: “Bill has become a bit of an icon for Edinburgh, and a fantastic test match number 8, and one of the best players in the world.”
