The Nadroga women rugby side hopes for a top four finish at this year’s ANZ Marama Cup Championship.

Nasinu is hosting the Vunahalu women at the St Marcellin Primary School ground in Suva this Saturday in their opener.

Captain Kalisi Keiyasi, 22, said the presence of Fijiana rep Adita Milinia will boost their side.

The Semo, Tuva, Nadroga native is hopeful that this will be a great rugby season for them.

“We did not make it to the quarter-finals last year, we went back and regrouped to be a better side this year,” Keiyasi said.

“We have set our goal to reach the semi-finals, with the help of Adita and other senior players.

“We know all teams have prepared well for the season including champions Suva and the tough Namosi side which were the two teams we did not beat last year."

“We know that our team’s unity will take us through to a better placing in this year’s Marama competition,” she added.

The former Nadroga Arya College student started playing for Nadroga last year.

To be selected captain in her second year of playing is an honour; she intends to lead and elevate the Nadroga women’s rugby team to another level this year.

She was inspired to play rugby after watching Semi Radradra while growing up.
