Naduvalo, Tira Qualify

National 7s reps Vuiviwa Naduvalo and Tira Wilagi Patterson were commissioned by the National Fire Authority (NFA) yesterday at the Suva Fire Station, Walu Bay after passing their promotional qualification courses.
Naduvalo is now a Qualified Firefighter (QFF), while Patterson is a Firefighter (FF).
It was no easy sailing for the duo as while they were training for the HSBC sevens series early this year they also needed to complete their promotional course.
“It was quite a difficult time because we were based at Korotogo, training before the start of the HSBC series,” Naduvalo said.
“All rugby players know that recovery is important, but for us we trained during the day and then went to the fire station after dinner every day to undergo firefighter training."
“It was very tough."
“When we had breaks in the weekend, other players went to see their families, we camped at the Sigatoka Fire Station, training on drills and presentations while undergoing assessment."
