Naivalurua Gets FIBA Award

Basketball Fiji's President, Ioane Naivalurua received a top award at the FIBA (International Basketball Federation) Congress.

The FIBA Awards ceremony took place in Manila, Philippines, as part of the XXII FIBA Congress. National Federations were recognised and celebrated for their achievements at the ceremony through a variety of awards.

The final of the 13 awards was the "President's Award for 2023". This was awarded to the leader of a National Federation from each of FIBA's five continents. The award was in recognition of the work, commitment and positive impact on basketball made by each of the leader and their National Federation during the past five years and was selected by FIBA president Hamane Niang. 

The winners for the President's Award for 2023 were: 

• Africa- Desire Mugwiza (Rwanda)
• Americas- Ricardo Vairo (Uruguay)
• Asia- Erick Thohir (Indonesia)
• Europe- Amiram Halevy (Israel)
• Oceania- Ioane Naivalurua (Fiji)
