Queen Victoria School has withdrawn from participating in the 2018 Vodafone Fiji Secondary School rugby league competition.
Fiji National Rugby League (FNRL) CEO Timoci Naleba confirmed this yesterday and said this would not affect the competition.
“We have grown from 43 to 76 participating schools this year so I do not think the interest has gone down but rather it has increased,” Naleba said.
“With the increased in numbers it is only fair for us to say that the interest in schools towards rugby league is growing.”
Naleba revealed that QVS was the only school that withdrawn their participation in the competition.
“But that does not deter or change the fact that there are more schools coming in and wanting to play rugby league.”
“Rugby League is becoming a sport that our young players are really getting interested in.”
