Aborosio Naqamu’s drop goal at full-time was enough for Hidea­way Hurricanes to beat Ratu Fil­ise 8-5 and scoop the Martintar 7s title at Prince Charles Park, Nadi yesterday.

Trailing 5-0, at the start of the second half, Anare Namalanicagi burst his way through to score for Hideaway.

The side fielded the likes of Sakenasa Vuli, Mesake Seavula, Sireli Daivalu and Ilai Nareki.

Victorious Hideaway skipper Paula Gonerogo said, “It was tough tourna­ment and I thank the players for their hard work which enabled us the win.”

He said Ratu Filise had big forwards but were slow.

“So we capitalised on that but other­wise they were a great side too,”

Ratu Filise had the services of for­mer Fiji Airways Fijian 7s playmaker Amenoni Nasilasila, Ifereimi Tovilevu, Vio Batibasaga, and Vetaia Natoga.

Hurricanes walked away with $5000 while Ratu Filise settled for $2000.

Naqamu also won the best player award for the two-day event.
