Makereta Naulu is not only focusing on assisting Adi Cakobau School to defend the girl’s division title in this year’s Coca-Cola Games but also aims for a spot in the Commonwealth Games squad.
The 19-year-old who hails from Kubulau, Bua will bolster the girls from Waimanu after she won the 200metres and later anchored her Lagakali House 4x400m senior girl’s relay team.
“I’m taking each game at a time,” she said.
“I will look at my results after this inter-house, build-up for the zone and then to the Fiji Finals. My aim is to keep improving my results.”
She is aware of her competitors who will come in as underdogs.
“All schools are preparing to do well and produce good results. There will be athletes coming in as underdogs but I’ve just got to do my basics well,” she said.
“I’m also aiming for a spot for my first Commonwealth Games, it will be a great experience competing with the best athletes from around the world.”
