No New Record At Grand Prix

It was a big turnout during the second round of Athletics Fiji grand prix at the ANZ Stadium over the weekend says, Athletics Fiji website administrator, Eugene Vollmer.
Vollmer who is also the triple jump champion said most of the high school students that participated utilised the competition as a platform to prepare for the upcoming Coca- Cola Games.
“There was a big turnout of athletes, a lot of the high school athletes coming out to take part and take advantage of the competition to help them in their preparations towards the coke games,” Vollmer said
“And, also the main expectations of having this weekly grand prix was for cash incentives to lure and expose potential athletic talents. While, anyone can enter to compete and sometimes hidden talents are identified and picked up by one of the coaches for further development.
“The cash incentives will also drive athletes to push their limits and better their performance. We get to see athletes turn in quality performances expected of them. “However, no qualifiers from last weekend though.
Meanwhile, the next and final of this year’s Grand Prix Series will be at Churchill Park, Lautoka tomorrow and Saturday.”
