The launch of the 84th Vodafone Secondary Schools Dean’s Trophy was done in style at Subrail Park, Labasa, last Saturday.

Vodafone Fiji’s product manager retail and dealer, William Tabuya, said they are proud to sponsor the Dean’s Trophy competition again.

He said this was the beginning of Vodafone’s collaboration with the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) and Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Association to bring more Dean’s Trophy matches to Vanua Levu and boost the development of rugby in schools there.

Tabuya said the launching also portrayed the spirit of youth and sportsmanship.

FRU interim Trustee, Mosese Naivalu, appreciated Vodafone’s service to grassroots rugby development.

Naivalu encouraged supporters of secondary schools rugby in the division to be at the games venue to cheer on the students.

Suva Grammar School Under-17 captain, Tomasi Mafi, commended the decentralising of the competition to the Northern Division.

SGS manager, Sorovi Jolame, said the initiative would help unearth future stars from the North.
