North, West Qualifiers Here For Nationals

Three Bucalevu Secondary School rugby teams from Taveuni will play in Saturday’s Vodafone Deans Trophy and Weet-Bix Raluve Tro­phy national playoffs at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.

The Northern Zone Two qualifiers are fielding teams in the Under-16 girl’s com­petition along with the boy’s U15 and U17 teams.

This was confirmed to SUNsports on Monday by Fiji Secondary Schools Rug­by Union national secretary Waisake Tuicakau.

The St Bedes U19 side also qualified from Northern Zone Two while North­ern Zone One qualifiers Holy Family Secondary School (boy’s U15), Immacu­late Conception College (boy’s U17) and Shri Guru Nanal Khalsa College (boy’s U19).

Meanwhile, the boy’s U14 national playoffs will be also played on Saturday, where the winners will meet in the na­tional semifinals on October 1 at Prince Charles Park, Nadi.

In the U14 grades are prominent schools like Queen Victoria School, Ratu Kadavulevu School, Ratu Sukuna Memo­rial School, Suva Grammar School, and Lelean Memorial School. There are no U14 teams from the Northern and West­ern Zones.

The Vodafone Deans quarterfinals will be played next Saturday while the finals are set for Churchill Park, Lautoka on October 8.
