Suva rugby head coach Solo Nute is confident that they can match the formidable Nadroga team in tomorrow’s Skipper Cup clash at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Nute said they already ironed out their mistakes.
“We’re ready for the top of the (points) table match against Nadroga,” the former Police prop said.
“We did not execute our set piece well (against Namosi) despite scoring a few tries.”
Nute said the match against Namosi prepared them well for the Nadroga game.
“We need to control our set pieces and we can do more from there as our attack did not connect last week,” he said.
“We’re trying to mend those areas in our preparation.”
Nute described Nadroga as a unified champion side.
“It’s a big advantage for them to have a blend of Fijian Drua players in their set-up but we will concentrate on what we can do.
Paid Coverage
“We have bigger boys that will do the damage upfront and we’ll utilise our backs with a few of our (national) sevens players.”
Nute said Fiji men’s rugby sevens extended squad members, Terio Tamani and Sakiusa Siqila will feature for them.
“It will be a good game and we will keep it tight throughout the match. We are doing well so far as we want to maintain our winning culture from last year.”
Nute said his side would work hard in improving their attack and also tighten up their defence.
“We will work on our set-pieces and I hope we’ll give Nadroga a good game. We have five players that are in the Fiji Warriors at the moment, which shows the breeding from the Suva club games and secondary schools rugby.”
Nute has urged Suva fans to come out in numbers and cheer on the team against Nadroga.
The match kicks-off at 3pm.
