Organisers of the inaugural Champions League 2023 are hoping to set up a new facility for the aged in the Western Division from the money they would be collecting from the competition.
This was revealed by the Fiji Muslim Sports International during its launch at the Fun World Hotel in Nadi on Monday night.
FMSI president Manu Pokar said the main objective was to build a new aged care facility in the western division and assist the poor and underprivileged in Fiji.

“There are various divisions, but the winner of the premier division will walk away with $10,000 which is the prize purse,” Pokar, a former Nadi FA coach and player said.
The Champions League 2023 will be held at Prince Charles Park in Nadi from October 26-29.
Ministry of Youth and Sports Divisional officer West Jemesa Delana said the tournament would not be just the game, but about the values, it instils in its people.
“This is reinforced by the objectives of the tournament to help the vulnerable and assist the less fortunate in the community,” Delana said.
He added that the community football tournament was true testament to the power of unity, sportsmanship, community assistance, and love for the game.
“Let’s come together, as a united community, to celebrate the beautiful game and the value it represents. As we look ahead to the tournament later this year, I have no doubt that it will be a resounding success, filled with thrilling matches, unforgettable moments, and forging of lifelong connections.”
Nadi Special Administrator Lawrence Kumar congratulated FMSI for choosing Nadi as the venue for the inaugural tournament.
“This is another milestone for Nadi, as we had hosted the FANCA here and now this tournament,” he said.
“This event will definitely create a robust economy into the township.”
