Boxer Jone Davule Koroilagilagi is the first Fijian boxer to go past the first round of the 2023 Men's World Boxing Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Wednesday night.
The Suva-based Policeman fighting in the 57-60 kilogrammes beat Luckmore Kamoto of Zimbabwe on unanimous points decision (5-0).
"This is Fijian boxing history," said Boxing Fiji president Manasa Baravilala.
"Jone is now in the Round of 16. This ranks Jone as the top 12 boxers, in the world in his weight category."
