Marist Rugby Club received a timely boost of $10,000 from Pacific Energy yesterday to assist in the hosting of the 43rd Fiji Bitter Marist Sevens tournament at the ANZ Stadium next weekend.

Pacific Energy Limited’s national retail manager Amit Maharaj was grateful for the opportunity to sponsor the tournament.

“Pacific Energy is proud to yet again an associate sponsor of the 2019 Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament,” Maharaj said.

“This is the 8th year Pacific Energy has sponsored Marist 7s rugby tournament and every year, the two day tournament gets more exciting where we see new upcoming talents that Fiji and the region.

“From grassroots levels, we see underdogs become champions. What people may see as underdeveloped, we see as potential gold medalists. For that I commend the great achievements made in Rio when our boys won the first ever gold medal for rugby 7s in 2016.

“We believe this can happen again with the tournament like the Marist 7s that brings out to the light the hidden talents we have in Fiji.

“We would like to thank Pacific Energy who have been partnered with us for the past 8 years and standing by us,

“And it’s great that both our brands have the same synergy and vision of providing the best for our people and giving back to the community development.

“Also, we have increased the prize money for women’s competition to $4,000 as we value and recognize women involvement in sports and we have two spots available for this competition.

“While all 64 men’s team spots are booked as we looking forward to the tournament proper next weekend,”
