Fiji-born sprinter Nick Pareti is preparing to compete in the Australian Junior Track and Field Championship, which is currently underway.
The 15-year-old Ipswich Grammar School boy made the Queensland State representative team when he was placed second in the Under-17 100m and fourth in the 200m finals at the Queensland State Championship two weeks ago.
His coach Ian Thompson said Pareti had carried a rugby injury but never faulted in his commitment to training and a medal at the state championship was a testament to his hard work.
Pareti said he was looking forward to competing against the top athletes in Australia at the upcoming National Championship in Sydney.
He will compete in the U17 100m and 200m events.
Nick is the eldest of Julian Pareti from Daliconi, Lau and Dr. Sera Vada from Nairai, Lomaiviti.
The family moved to live in Brisbane, Australia in 2017.
