Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel has confirmed that the Vodafone Fijian football team would be touring the Philippines next month.

He made the announcement during the Fiji Rugby Union and Fiji Football Association bid press conference at the Fiji FA headquarters in Vatuwaqa, Suva yesterday.

“We have confirmed our tour of the Philippines which is in March to play their national team,” Patel said.

He said they would be working on some other things and would be having other international teams touring Fiji as well.

“Indonesia will also be coming this year.”

Patel said they are working on the getting the dates and schedules finalised.

“We went to play there last year and now they want to come here.”

He said this was something they would continue doing.

“The more international games we play the more experience we get and it is the same thing with rugby and that is what we want to do.

“We want to get better and better and also keep on flying the Fijian flag high.”

Patel said all the finer details of the tour and other international matches would be revealed on a later date.

Meanwhile, Fiji FA vice-president Yogeshwar Singh said explosive football is expected at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori, this weekend.

In the Vodafone Premier League clash Suva take on Nadi at 6pm Saturday while hosts Rewa face Ba in a thriller on Sunday at 3pm.
