Cricket Fiji could not have asked for anything better as Suva offered the perfect weather for day one of the Easter Cup Championship.
Minus the always vibrant crowd which should flock to Albert Park in the next few days, cricketers enjoy the game and the atmosphere nevertheless with a hope the rain stays away.
Played over 20 overs, Cricket Fiji development manager Sitiveni Rokoro is hoping the rain stays away.
“The weather’s set and we hope the rain stays away,”Rokoro said.
“We missed out last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and hope there would be little disruptions this time.”
A total of 14 teams are taking part in the annual event which ends on April 10.
The 14 teams included Lau island teams Moce, Oneata, Kabara, Komo and Cicia.
Suva featured two teams, Suva Warriors and Suva Crusaders as well as a team of former national reps to be known as Cricket Fiji Masters.
Suva Warriors are the defending champion.
Results: Komo beat Masters by seven wickets, Suva Warriors beat Western Wingmen by 96 runs, Oneata beat Cicia by 21 runs, Suva Crusaders beat Lakeba by 60 runs
