The FIJI Water Flying Fijians went through their medicals in Tokyo, Japan, yesterday. This was after their 35-12 win over Japan to claim the Pacific Nations Cup on Saturday night.
Speaking to SUNsports, head coach Simon Raiwalui said there was no medical update to the injuries of second-five eighth Vilimoni Botitu and prop Peni Ravai.
Botitu was a victim of a dangerous shoulder charge to the head by Japan’s openside flanker Pieter Labuschagne, which saw him got an immediate red card from referee Matthew Carley of England. Botitu had to leave the field after the incident and was replaced by Teti Tela.
Ravai was replaced late in the second half for a suspected leg injury.
Raiwalui confirmed that prop Jone Koroiduadua is training with the squad while Haereiti Hetet is still undergoing rehab.
“At this time the RWC (Rugby World Cup) squad is expected to be named on Tuesday,” he added.
