The Digicel Fiji Under-20 football side presented their i-Tatau to the President Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere at the State House, Suva, yesterday.
Our junior footballers seek the blessing of the President at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina.
Ratu Wiliame highlighted the hard work done by the players and coaches during their preparations for the World Cup.
“I can see that you are physically and mentally prepared. I appreciate what you have done,” he said.
“While representing Fiji, listen to your coaches and follow their instructions.
“Go and play your hearts out for Fiji. Whatever the outcome, you will always be Team Fiji.”
Fiji U20 co-captain Thomas Dunn said the team was honoured to present the traditional i-Tatau to the President.
“It’s a reminder of our roots and a source of strength as we represent our country on the world stage,” Dunn said.
Fiji U20 head coach Robert Mimms said they were thrilled to present themselves to the President.
“It is a proud moment for our team, and we are looking forward to expressing our gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to represent our country.”
The other coaches are Marika Rodu and Ronil Lal
The FIFA U20 World Cup is from May 20 to June 12 in Argentina. The Fiji U20 football team is among the 24 teams competing for the world title.
