Fiji Badminton will decide on training schedules and future tournaments, says vice-president Andra Whiteside.
She made the comment after the Government gave the all clear yesterday for social gathering of 20 or less people to resume.
“Now that social gathering is back on but with 20 people or less it is certainly something to discuss,” she said.
“The committee will have a meeting soon and they will decide if we are permitted to host any competition or training for that matter.
“It was a hard time for everyone in all sports but we have to adapt to the changes for the safety of all the players and the Fijian people.
“We had a number of local tournaments in our 2020 calendar we cancelled due to the COVID-19 virus outbreak.
“We have to reschedule these tournaments. We normally have the development competition for kids at this time of the year.”
First things first
“If the committee agrees that we have to start training and have competitions than we will have to look at other alternatives.
“We will have to monitor the fitness of the players once they return for training. and lift the intensity.”
Whiteside added during the lockdown period constant communication was key for the players.
“Our communication strategy was through the use of social media platforms and we made sure that everyone was safe,” she said.
“The players know they have to do their own training during isolation which is good.”
