Punters Bet Favourite Horses

Horses 5 and 7 are favourites for local punters.

They are Sir Dragonent (5) and Verry Elleegant (7).

Grants Betting Limited manager, Abdul Raus, said the two jockeys have won other races leading up to the Melbourne Cup.

“Those are our first and second favourite that will compete in the 3200 metres race.

But a local punter Varia, he is betting for New Zealand trained brown mare horse, Oceanex (22) to be the winner of the 160th Melbourne Cup.

Mr Varia is a regular at Grants Betting Limited outlet in Suva.

The 69–year–old from Wailoku said chances were high for his favorite number 22 horse to win.

“I’ve been following the training and preparation for this horse, and I think she stands a good chance to win this year’s Melbourne Cup.”

Mr Varia has been horse betting for more than 10 years.

“Sometimes I make a big win and at times I loose, but it’s all part of the betting, so I don’t really think too much about it.”

Oceanex is trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent. She won the Andrew Ramsden to gain a good start in the Melbourne Cup today.
