QVS Wary Of RKS Champ Status

Queen Victoria School is aware of the challenge de­fending champions Ratu Ka­davulevu School will bring in the Southern/Eastern Zone Under 19 semifinal tomorrow at Buckhurst Park, Suva.

QVS U19 captain Semi Tauyavuca said they would go in as underdogs.

“We respect RKS, these players have been winning the national competition since U17 grade and they will be the most experienced side. But for us we will have to give our best,” Tauyavuca said.

“We are playing against our own brothers and we need to play until the final whistle.”

The team from Vulinitu prefer to do the rest of the talking on the field.

“After our final game last Sat­urday, we went back to the draw­ing board and map our game plan against RKS.”

RKS U19 captain Phillip Murray believes they have trained on a plan they know would counter QVS tomorrow.

“All eyes are on us as defending champions but we have been pre­paring well compared to our last year’s semifinal.

“The players are all looking for­ward to an exciting match,” Mur­ray said.

Southern/Eastern zone alongside Lautoka zone will host their semi­finals tomorrow. For the Lautoka zone in the main U19 grade Drasa Secondary will take on Ratu Na­vula and Ba Provincial Free Bird Institute play Lautoka Muslim Col­lege.

The Ba/Tavua/Ra zone will com­plete their pool games tomorrow.

Fiji Secondary School Rugby League vice-president Naisa Cama confirms the Western zone will have the top two qualifiers from each grade while the Southern/ Eastern zone will have top four qualifiers to the National quarter­finals which will be held at Garvey Park in Tavua on March 23.

The national semifinal will be held at the ANZ Stadium, Suva on March 30 while the final will be at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka on April 6.
