Weet-Bix Raluve national coordinator Debra Gucake has cleared the air regarding the Under-18 quarterfinal between Natabua High School (NHS) and Naitasiri Secondary School.

She was responding to questions raised on the games by-laws when the two sides were tied 0-0 at full time, with no extra-time allowed.

They were given five penalty kicks, which was won by Naitasiri Secondary School, 6-0.

Natabua High School’s U18 head coach, Inoke Vucago, said: “I go by the by-laws.

“They by-passed the five minutes extra time and go to goal kicking.

“The girls trained and played their hearts out.

“It all comes down to the decision of the match commissioner.”

Gucake said they stood by the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union games by-laws.

According to the rules of competition in the FSSRU Raluve competition, in an event of a draw at fulltime, the declared winner shall be the team that scores the most number of tries.

If the draw still remains then the team that scores the first try is awarded the win.

“In fact, none of the teams scored any tries,” she said.

“If the score is nil-all, the winner shall be decided by five kicks at goal taken from the 22 metre line.

“And that’s what we have followed with regards to the game for Naitasiri and Natabua High School.”
