Arriving at Rowing last year, Kaminieli Rasaku is already leaving the Basque Country. Bayonne announced his departure on Monday.

Rasaku is a national rugby sevens player who was part of the national sevens team at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham where they won the silver medal.

He later won a gold medal at the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town.

“Returning from the Fiji where (Kaminieli Rasaku) left at the end of August after being struck by a family bereavement, the 24-year-old winger expressed his strong desire to return to his native archipelago for personal reasons” , the club said in a press release.

Rasaku, U20 international with Fiji, joined the Basque coast in 2022.

After playing a Top 14 match last season, he was loaned to Mont-de-Marsan (Pro D2), participating in 19 matches (14 tries registered) including the play-off won against Agen and the Top 14 accession semi-final lost against Grenoble.

This season, he was lined up by Grégory Patat on the first day against Toulouse a few days before leaving for Fiji following a family bereavement.
