Rasaku One For The Future: Baber

Vodafone Fiji Under 20 fullback Kamineli Rasaku continues to develop with the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s side and could even make his debut this season.

Rasaku’s consistency and high-tempo style has impressed head coach Gareth Baber, who has taken the utility back under his wing.

Baber has spoken highly of the 21-year-old, telling media at a recent training session that he was selected based on excellent peformances at a few international tournaments last year.

“He was included in the squad for his good performance in the U20 Oceania Rugby competition that was held in April last year and also his performance in the international 7s competitions such as the Oktoberfest 7s and Darwin 7s,” he said.

“ His energetic and physical player who loves to learn the game of 7s rugby and he will be working with him in their preparation towards the next two tournaments.”

“His done very well for his first full training session with the players he has picked up the game that we play.

“His basic skills level has been good from the pod of a kick off to his tackle technique

“I think his showing quality above his year. That’s exactly what we want when they come in here. Players that have that ability to uphold it and accelerate in that and his certainly one of those.”
