Red won the 2019 Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School inter-house athletics competition at the ANZ Stadium yesterday.
Red athletes collected 26 gold, 16 silver and 13 bronze medals, Yellow cane second (18,7,6) followed by Blue (17,18,10) and Green fourth (13,15,11).
School principal Sanjay Raman told SUNsports they aim to increase their field at the Coca- Cola Games on April 16-18.
“We had 200 students participating in the competition and most will qualify for the upcoming zonal meet,” Raman said
“Last year we had only four athletes qualified for the Coca-Cola Games and this year we hoping to increase our participation in the annual event.
“However, preparations are normal and at the moment we don’t have a proper facility for training so we planning to bring our elite squad members to the ANZ Stadium.
“I am pleased to confirm we have some potential athletes in the junior and sub-junior grades that can win medals for the school and we are hoping for the best.
“We are grateful to Ministry of Education for assisting us to host this inter-house at the ANZ Stadium and not forgetting the never ending support from the school management and staff.”
