Sabeto Roosters edged out Ravoravo Rabbitohs 14-12 in the Nadi Zone Rugby League at Prince Charles Park, Nadi yesterday.

Roosters coach Waisake Tavutavu said the win was a major boost as they eye to retain the Vodafone League Cup.

“We’ll take each game as the final and the boys will play to the best of their ability,” he said.

Tavutavu said one of the biggest weaknesses his players had was on their level of fitness.

“We really need to work on it as we prepare for the upcoming big tournaments. We will undergo our training programme to bring up our fitness level.”

Rabbitohs coach, Josateki Sovau said the match was a platform to identify talented players through their individual skills.

“Both teams come from the same village, so win or lose this is just a platform for us to see the skills our boys have especially the young ones we just brought in.”
