Minister Saukuru promises swift progress on double Olympian Tuwai's home construction

Fiji 7s team and two-time Olympic champion, Jerry Tuwai. and Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru.
Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, has provided assurance that the construction of Seremaia (Jerry) Tuwai's house will be built this year.
The 2021 national gift acknowledges Tuwai's exceptional leadership and achievements as a two-time Olympic gold medallist, three-time world series titles winner for Fiji, and the 2019 World Rugby men's sevens player of the decade.
Former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama announced the gift on August 6, 2021, following Fiji's back-to-back gold medal win at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The land title, valued at $141,700, was presented to Tuwai by former President, Major-General (Ret'd) Jioji Konrote, at the State House on October 6, 2021.
While the process faced delays, Saukuru highlighted ongoing efforts.
He said: "So far, the progress has been slow, but we have managed to revise the plan for the house.
"We haven't started yet, but we will be working on it."
When questioned about the construction timeline, the minister mentioned collaboration with the Public Works Department (PWD) and explained the setbacks encountered.
He said: "There were some delays concerning the sewerage system passing through the compound.
"We managed to address that along with reviewing the house design."
The minister confirmed the house, valued at more than $30,000, will be completed within the year.
