Saukuru Scores Winning Goal

Nadi women's football rep Sereana Saukuru scored the lone goal in their 1-0 victory against Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College (SSKMC) in the Nadi Secondary School zone girls division final at SSKMC ground on Saturday.

The Rams Cleaning sponsored Sabeto Collage side created history on their de­but year.

Saukuru, a Year 12 student scored the goal in the second spell of extra time. She is among the joint winners of the golden goal for the season with three goals to her name.

"It was a good run for us for our debut season. I dedicate the win to those from Sabeto," the Naboutini, Sabeto native said.

Interestingly, Saukuru made her debut for Nadi Women's against Nadogo in the Senior Women's play-off where she played centre back but striker for Sabeto College. Her talent was recognised during the pool plays of the zone.

Captain Kelly Sharma said, "It is a his­torical moment for the school winning the title in our first year."

"The journey wasn't easy as we needed to balance training and studies."

Head coach Jackline Rani thanked the sponsors Rams Cleaning for their support in buying $2000 worth of boots, Australian High Commission for the playing kits and other sponsors including M Iqbal Invest­ment, Kelvin Retailers, M Sadiq, Timber Traders, Jacks, and Padarath Aluminum.

"We are grateful to school principal Shelly Imran for having faith and for be­ing supportive team," Rani said.
