The construction of a new pavilion at Lomolomo Public School (LPS) in Lautoka would be a stepping stone for students to excel in sports.
Dedicated to the mothers and women, the Lomolomo Women’s Empowerment Stadium was built by former resident and United States businessman Bimal Singh.
While opening the 80-seater stadium, Hilton Fiji Beach Resort and Spa manager Veer Chand said the stadium was important and would entice sporting events at the school grounds.
“It will also be a stepping stone for the children in Lomolomo to better themselves in sports,” Mr Chand said.
“Few schools are privileged to have a stadium and for that I thank the generosity of Singh who has also done a lot of other projects for the school and the community and Lomolomo village. Mr Singh said from California he was looking at building similar sized ones around the ground but that would be later as he was first looking at an athletics track that would encircle the playing field.
