Three years of hardwork, sacrifices and pressure to win games has paid off for the Seaqaqa football side, as they are favourites to clinch their first Digicel Premier League Vanua Levu Senior title.
The side from the sugarcane belt in the province of Macuata rose to the occasion and is the only unbeaten team in the competition after seven rounds of matches
Seaqaqa leads the points table with 19 points, three points clear of second-placed Nadogo with a superior goal difference of 17.
Seaqaqa team coach, Mohammed Imran told SUNsports yesterday they are aiming to win the qualification and book a spot in next season’s Digicel Premier League
Imran said winning six of the seven games was not an easy feat and they are proud to have beaten the top district teams in the competition.
In their final match of the seventh round, Seaqaqa thrashed Savusavu 5-0.
He said their strict training schedules come with the motive of the players to create something special for the district and it has kept the fighting spirit alive.
“Our players want to make the district proud and put Seaqaqa on the top,” he said.
The 32-year-old primary school teacher said coaching has been in his blood since he first started in the junior grades (Seaqaqa Under-16 and U19), about 12 years ago.
